Smooth Radio's Nottingham studios Jeff Cooper was presenting Saturday mornings 10am to 2pm and '70s Sunday' between 2 and 5pm, unil Networking changes brought in programmes from London in June 2008.

Earlier, at the suggestion of the then Programme controller, Paul Robey, an attempt at less formatted and more adventurous Sunday evening programming ran for about 6 months in 2007. It was all too much for the new corporate owners, however, and 'Jeff Cooper's Collection' ended on 23 Sep (see the last playlist here). It then moved to radio2XS from Sun 30 Sep 2007, where it still runs from 10pm to midnight as 'The Attic' - sounding musically very different (latest playlist)! It also welcomes occasional guest presenters.

The Guardian Media Group's Smooth Radio had begun broadcasting to the East Midlands on 26 March 2007 on 106.6fm, from studios in Nottingham. It was designed to appeal to the under-served demographic of 45-60s. Many well-known East Midlands radio personalities joined the new station including John Peters, Tony Lyman, Tim Gough, Guy Morris, Steve Merike, Amanda Bowman, Kev Roberts and Gary Burton - though most have now left!
